As most of you know, I'm a slave to the pen and paper.  Sometimes I find myself not even being able to communicate effectively unless I can sketch a diagram.  Be it a napkin, a piece of scrap, or my ever favorite 4x6 index card, I also tend to hoard my drawings and lists.  So, naturally I have started an Africa sketchbook.  In this book I hope to be more diligent about sketching realistically rather than writing or diagramming.  Its important for me to hone these skills as I am a strong believer that thinking is drawing.  If I can draw more and draw better, my mind will also grow and expand. Along with my sketchbook, coming with me on my trip is a watercolor kit, a glue stick, a marker, pen, and pencil.  The glue stick will hopefully encourage me to collage and collect inside the book rather than externally .  The first pages of my sketchbook have taken form as maps of where I will be living and working. The "presearch" to my migration.
