Through out this trip we have visited a lot of places. Most of the monuments are quite remote and exist in the outskirting landscapes of small cities and villages.
It’s easy to see why most of them have been neglected- a function of both government and community.
From derelict buildings to aircraft bases, we have seen quite the plethora of abandoned spaces. They are covered with trash, plants, and public art. Three things I just love!

Željava Airbase
This Underground airbase had quite an eerie vibe. We explored the various connections of the underground spaces that were used to maintain, and manage the planes. The completely underground airbase traverses such a length that one entrance is in Bosnia and the other entry/exit is in Croatia. You might imagine that even now-a-days it is worth heading to the border between the countries to give the officials a heads up about your presence in the base. Thats exactly what we did- so rest assured no one was unexpectedly captured on the opposite end :)
